2009-S Proof Set

Each set contained eighteen coins: One example each of the Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Kennedy Half Dollar, Native American “Golden” Dollar, District of Columbia Quarter, Puerto Rico Quarter, Guam Quarter, American Samoa Quarter, U.S. Virgin Islands Quarter, and Northern Mariana Islands Quarter (all Copper-Nickel Clad). It also includes four Presidential Dollars: Harrison, Tyler, Polk, Taylor (Copper-Nickel Clad). Finally, it includes four Lincoln Bicentennial One Cent coins (containing an alloy of 95% copper, 3% zinc, and 2% tin matching the alloy of the original 1909 Cent.)

About the sets: All coins in the 2009-S Proof Set were intended to have a Cameo or Deep Cameo Finish. The 2009 Proof Set is notable for containing the very first Native American Dollar. The Native American Dollar series debuted in 2009 with a one-year-only design which commemorates the spread of Three Sisters Agriculture around 1000 A.D. and features a Native American woman planting seeds in a field of corn, beans and squash. The Native American Dollar series retained the Sacagawea obverse from the previous Sacagawea Golden Dollar program.

Mintage: 1,296,853 sets.

Original packaging: The 2009-S Proof Set comes in four cases. One case contains the Nickel, Dime, Half Dollar, and Native American Dollar; one contains the six District of Columbia and Territory Quarters, the third case houses the four Presidential Dollars, and the fourth case displays the four Lincoln Bicentennial Cents. The coins are inserted into holes in a cardboard holder, and then sealed inside a two-piece, clear plastic case.

Why buy the 2009-S Mint Clad Proof Set?

The 2009 Clad Proof Sets have an unusually large amount of coins. This set includes four Lincoln pennies which depict four stages of the President’ life: his birth in Kentucky, his formative years in Indiana, his professional life in Illinois, and his presidency in the nation’s capital, Washington, D. C.

Proof sets are an inexpensive way to add numismatic value to any assortment. Representing multiple stages of various Presidents, this proof set is a true piece of American history!
