This antique treen ware is very unusual. It is a miniature mortar & pestle that I believe was used for grinding snuff. The mortar is shaped like a flared vase. The Pestle is round with a ribbed design. It was held in the hand for grinding snuff.  There is an incised line on the inner portion of the mortar.

Size is approx. 3" x 1.5"

Wood is lignum Vitae. As you can see by the photos it has been well used. Some areas are worn from handling. There are age related cracks adding to its charm.
