This listing is for a vintage Buffet Crampon Bb soprano clarinet. This is a professional level instrument made of grenadilla wood. The serial number is 18,xxx, which indicates a c.1936 production date. At this time Buffet really only produced one model (with some variations), so it doesn't have a model name per se. These are generally referred to a "pre-R13" though.

This instrument is in very good condition. There are no cracks, nor any evidence of past crack repairs. There are no chips to the tenons or tone hole chimneys. There is some minor chipping on the bell flare, just above the flare ring, some of which has been filled with epoxy. The wood is in excellent condition with a nice tight grain, but it probably needs to be oiled. The tenon and bell rings are just a tiny bit loose. They will probably snug up once it is oiled and/or after the dry winter weather passes. The key work is all operating as it should. There is normal light wear to the plating, and it has dulled with age.

This instrument has had a recent overhaul with high quality synthetic pads. The pads are in very good condition and sealing properly for the most part, but I think it needs some minor adjustment on the pinkie key clusters. Also, I noticed that one key cork is missing. The tenon corks are in great shape. There is no 'wobbling' of the joints due to compressed corks. The instrument is nice and clean. It shouldn't take much to get it back to excellent playing condition though.

This instrument comes in a wood shell case. It is in very good condition. There are no marks or scuffs to the exterior. The inside is clean and odor free with minimal wear and tear.

There is no mouthpiece, nor any other accessories, included.
