19th-century Swedish birch hand-carved wooden snuff/tobacco box.

A wonderful piece of craftsmanship, it has the owner’s name carved in the lid and reads “SV. O. NILSSON”, along with a picturesque scene of what we can presume is the box’s owner employed with a commercial scale such as was used in the second half of the 19th century in Sweden. He is flanked by two trees. The box has some intricate details and features an integral wooden hinge. It is a very tactile box and would make a great addition to any Treen, tobacciana or Swedish antiques collection.

The dimensions of the box are 5 & 1/2 by 3 & 3/8 by 1 & 1/2 inches(14,0 x 8,6 x 3,7cm).

The box is in excellent condition which certainly adds to its value. Whether you are a snuff or tobacco box enthusiast or simply appreciate the artistry of skillfully made antique wooden bygones, this box is quite a unique example.
