For sale is an Antique German Tobacco / Snuff Box

This is an antique lacquer papier mache tobacco / snuff box made by Stobwasser Fabrik in Braunschweig, Germany ca early 19th C. The box is finely hand paited depicting Columbus breaking the Egg, after an engraving by William Hogarth of 1752. The reverse of the top inscribed Columbus and numbered 10551 and bottom also numbered again 10551. and inscribed Stobwassers Fabrik. In very good condition considering the age! The top has one small and one larger flake type chips. The bottom also has a small chip- please inspect the pictures! There are light surface scratches and wear to the top transparent lacquer finish. Also there is the typical age related fine craquelure to the to the top transparent lacquer finish. Left in original condition. Measurements: 9.6cm diameter x 1.7cm thick . Weighs ~60 grams.
