End of the second century to Late Roman period. The original safety pin used to secure wrap-around garments such as the toga and chiton. 2 ¾” length, solid silver with slender arched back with transverse lugs which imitate the cast tubular hinge which distinguishes it as Rina type 6  (Die Romischen Fibeln aus Augst und Kaiseraugst, 1979). Delicate pin seat and original hinged pin. Fine elegant form and excellent for the period. Can be worn as a brooch or pin.
