Original antique postcard from circa early 1910s (Since the photographer name is Case & Draper it is before 1914 when it became Draper and Co.)

White houses lined up along the shoreline . . . few people in image and even some wash hanging . . .

Kake first reported on the 1880 U.S. Census as the Tlingit village of Keex Kwaan. It formally reported as Kake beginning in 1910. It incorporated in 1951.

 

 Very small town, even today . . . located on the northwest coast of Kupreanof Island in the Alexander Archipelago in southeastern Alaska.  Total are of 14 sq miles of which 6 sq miles is water.

The name of the city comes from the Tingit word which is derived from dawn, daylight or mouth of dawn . . .
