While the new "Dad" is delighted, his mean-spirited wife (Michelle Bauer) despises her and plots to get rid of the little girl once and for all.

What neither of them realises is that little Deidre is a Junior Witch in training, her mission, to help the quarreling couple find new happiness in their lives. Through the use of magic and a bit of mischief Deidre and her new babysitter friend (Kim Read) show everyone, including Dad's evil boss (Tommy Kirk) the error of their ways and the path to real happiness!
