Among these optimistic innovations is Crystal Clear, a water- saving dye technique, that drastically reduces the amount of chemicals needed to dye denim, making it easier to recycle the water from the dye process. On its own, indigo dye does not stick to fabric or yarn, requiring the industry to use extra ingredients -like compounds and salts - to achieve the traditional blue colour of denim. The Crystal Clear process, however, uses an organic version. This means there is no leftover salt in the dye bath, which can now be safely and effectively reused. The result is less waste, less water used and lower impact on the environment. Plus, this sustainable method uses less energy, further shrinking the environmental impact.
