Two parts, burner base and vented lid. Incense is burned in the base bowl and smoke rises through mouth of dog and through vent hold between the front two paws of the dog.

Acquired at estate sale at home of Asian antiquities and art collector and dealer. Age is unknown. Some have estimated it to be late 19th Century or early 20th Century.

Measures about 5 3/4 inches tall (both pieces together) and about 4 1/2 inches wide at handles.

Beautiful and intricate carving of dog.

Excellent condition. Appears never used (no burn marks in base). No major chips or cracks. Some very tiny micro chips from age and handling and due to softness of the soapstone..
