This auction is for a mysterious black Guild X-79 electric guitar, and its matching, original hard case.  It's the only one I've ever seen, in pictures or in person, with this configuration and paint job.  Have been told it's not a prototype, but it is certainly a rarity.  According to the serial on back, Guild's reference file suggests this is one of less than a hundred X-79 guitars built sometime between 1984 and 1989.

There is some common wear for gear from the '80s – scuffs, scratches, small dents, imperfections in the paint, and a corner on the guitar where the paint has been worn off.  The original strap button on the back is broken, but should be easy to replace.  Overall, I'd say it looks very cool and is in decent shape given its age.  Please see the photographs for more details.

The scale is 24¾". Very easy to play.

The original bridge and tailpiece will be included, but the guitar has been upgraded with a TonePros bridge for added playability.

The original tuners will be included, but the guitar has been upgraded to use some nice, black Gotoh tuners.

It has a volume knob, tone knob, and 3-way pickup switch, and Lawrence pickups all of which appear to be original.

This guitar plays quite nicely, and has working hardware.

When sold, this will be carefully packaged in the original hard case, which will be placed inside a cardboard box with enough material to ensure that it doesn't move around during shipment.
