Stephen (Melvyn Douglas, Being There) and Edith (Mary Astor, The Maltese Falcon, 1941) are a widower and a divorcee, respectively, spending their winter at the same ski resort with their families. When a snowstorm traps the two at the resort, Stephen and Edith start falling for each other. But both Stephen's and Edith's children don't want their parents to get married again, and will do whatever it takes to keep them apart in this beguiling romantic comedy. Newly remastered.

Claudette Colbert's 'I Married My Boss' had the same young child playing a daughter of a single parent, so I recognized that the kids would figure prominently in this picture. They did! What I didn't expect was liking the kids so much (It was Mary Astor who drew me to the movie).

There are several truly hilarious scenes, one involving a cute dog who empties a room full of people. The romantic relationship is satisfying but it takes a back seat to all the other action. The actors seem so ordinary, despite their skill and glamour, that you believe these really are adults who have their children's best interests at heart.

Another very funny scene centers on a Christmas tree. So funny! Well worth watching if you want to be surprised and laugh out loud.
