Engaging in acts of kindness is an age old tradition among the Jewish People, and according to Jewish Sages, there is no higher level of goodness between a man and his fellowman. Giving charity is to give of one's money but volunteering involves the devoting of one's precious time and energy.
The Israel 54th Anniversary Coin was dedicated to Israel's devoted volunteers.
