Frank T. Beatty (American, 1899-1984) “Portugese Church in Albuferia, Portugal”, 1969, Pastel and gouache painting on paper, signed and dated lower right, titled verso. Framed in wood frame, matted under glass. Measures 22in x 18in framed and 14.25in x 10.25in image only. Condition: small spot top top left quadrant in empty sky area, otherwise image in excellent condition. Frame has minor nicks and scratches. Beatty studied in Canada and Chicago, he worked as the art director of Popular Mechanics magazine in Chicago for twenty years. He became a full-time fine artist in the early 1960s, working from his base in Chicago and exhibiting nationally at the Art Institute of Chicago, Winnipeg Galleries in Canada, the Rockport Art Association, the North Shore Art Association, the Salmagundi Club, and many others. A member of the following art associations Rockport Art Association, Artists Guild of Chicago, Palette and Chisel Academy. Beatty traveled widely, producing outstanding oil paintings, pastels, and watercolors of Rockport and Cape Ann, the Bahamas, Mexico, Canada, Florida and Portugal
