ABOUT THIS TIMBER

Kiln Drying:

This timber has been kiln dried to 7% or less surface moisture content (measured by pin-type moisture meter). The drying has been carried out over 3 months to ensure as even as possible moisture distribution. I use a dehumidification kiln where the temperature never exceeds 50C. This allows the timber to keep its colour fully and not appear dulled as is possible in high temperature kilns.  About 50% of the power for the kiln has come from our own on-site solar power.

Surface finish:

This timber is planed flat using a flattening mill. This achieves uniform thickness, and flatness in both dimensions across the board with 1mm tolerance. The surface has been given a final quick sanding with 120-grit. The timber is raw and untreated.

Sustainability:

This timber has come from a windfall tree. No trees were cut down to produce this product. All wood is sourced locally or from my own land in Pembrokeshire, Wales
