Naim NAC 62 Preamp - Olive Series

Exact Date Of Manufacture - 15th July 1990

Serviced by Naim Authorised Class A of Sheffield in January 2024 - see photos above showing the Class A invoice and the brand new capacitors on the motherboard.  All Class A work is guaranteed for 12 months.

Historically, it is the selector switch that gives trouble on the old 'half width' units (particularly on the NAC62, 42 & 42.5).  These switches are expensive, in short supply and tricky to fit - Naim charge £400, for example.   You will note that the service on this 62 included a brand new selector switch, which means that it is highly unlikely this preamp will  need any further work done on it for the rest of its life.

In Near 'As New' Cosmetic Condition - see photos.

The green illuminated logo is sharp and clear, the front fascia is unmarked and the casing surround is in superb condition for its age.  This is what you will see when the preamp is in use - and it's pretty much mint.

The case has a few very minor blemishes, as would be expected for its age, but is still in excellent condition.  The marks are invisible during normal use.

No boards fitted to input 1 - if you want to run a turntable with this preamp, you will need to buy a set of Naim 322 boards (for MM cartridges) or 323 boards (for MC cartridges).  Input No 1 has brand new, high quality gold plated phono sockets fitted - a perfect match for most turntables.

There is no blanking plug fitted to final preamp output, so you will either need to use this 62 with a power supply (eg Naim HiCap) andI power amp (eg Naim 140) or you will need to buy a blanking plug to use it with just a Naim power amp (blanking plugs are readily available on eBay).

As a retired Naim dealer I constantly change my various Naim systems (Hi-Fi addict!) so now it's time for someone else to get the benefit from what I consider to be one of the very best 'half width'  preamps Naim have ever made.  I have several 42s, 62s, 72s and 32s in my collection, but it is the 62, with its simple board layout (compared to the 32s and 72s which have lots of daughter boards / connections) that I keep coming back to for the pure, undiluted 'musical' Naim sound.  At £479, this near mint, recently serviced NAC 62 is an absolute bargain for anyone who wants to experience the famous 'Naim sound' that launched the company into stardom in the 1980s and 1990s.

This freshly serviced 62 is great looking and great sounding - I doubt you will find a better example.
