Offered for sale is a new in the box, Vintage Scale Models 1:16th Scale Dain 3-Ton Utility Truck, Worthington Volunteer Fire Department Tornado Relief Fund, March 13, 1990.Part Number 1552. This truck is in new/mint condition and was a Limited-Edition toy, 1 of 250 produced. Please look carefully at the pictures for additional details concerning condition. I sell all items as is. In 1911, Dain became a John Deere property. The purchase price was approximately one million dollars of Deere and Company stock. Joseph Dain became a VP and board member at Deere. At John Deere in 1914, Dain was given the assignment of developing the first John Deere tractor. At the time, Deere was still focused on its core business of plow manufacturing. Dain Manufacturing in Iowa maintained its separate identity even though it was owned by Deere. Deere & Co. engineer, Joseph Dain, who was building experimental tractors for the firm, manufactured his own Dain truck from 1912 to 1917 in Ottumwa, Iowa. It also competed with Deere's truck program and may have adversely affected Deere sales too. This is a nice diecast metal replica that would make a great gift or awesome addition to any collection/display. Thanks for looking.
