Description

A framed and matted albumen photograph of a large group of men, most in work clothes, with a few, at the ends of the group, in white-collar garb. There is nothing to identify the group. Obviously its a work crew of some sort and its bosses. At the ridge of the tent, pitched at left, one can make out, with a magnifier, the name Louisville, which pretty much locates it. The trucks, that are partially visible behind the men, appear to be Ford Model Ts, or, possibly, TTs which pretty much dates the photo to 1908-1927 for the former, and 1917-1927 for the longer wheelbase TT. Interestingly, the group includes a number of white men mixed into a larger cohort of black men, with no concern for segregation. You don't very often see such images from a Southern location. The men in white-collar clothes are, of course, all white. The image measures 7 1/2" by 9 1/8". The frame measures 11 1/2" by 13". The image is a bit rough at the top, for the first inch or so. There is a tight, dime-sized repair just to the right of the telephone Pole. Otherwise the piece is in very good condition, clear and bright. Mat and frame are fine.
