Here we have a very rare and stunning signed chocolate pot molded in a form that first appeared in the late 1700s.  This was made by a highly creative master potter.  This pear form chocolate pot is beautifully decorated with blue slip-marbled glaze around the side and on the lid.  This marbled decoration continues on the underside of the lid and inside the chocolate pot.  The chocolate pot is supported under the base on three molded raised feet made from white clay.  The spout and handle are also applied using molded white clay that nicely contrasts with the blue marbled glaze.  The lid is elegantly formed with a molded white clay flower finial.   Measuring 7” to the rim and 8 ¾” to the top of the lid, this survives in its original mint condition with no damage or repairs.  The underside is hand inscribed with the name Apt, a French potter.  This is a very rare and highly sought after mocha ware chocolate pot any collector would be proud to own.
