Soursop is a small, upright, evergreen that can grow to about 4 meters (13 ft) tall and cannot stand frost.

 

Soursop blooms all year long in tropical regions. In milder climates, it blooms in spring and at the start of summer. The plant will take 3 to 4 years before producing fruits.
Hardiness zones 10-11 (1°C/35°F,4°C/40°F) in winter.

 Fruits are heart-shaped with a rough green skin with soft fleshy spines. The flesh is very juicy and slightly acid, and produces a rich creamy juice which is very refreshing.  Soursop seeds and leaves are also used as a health remedy.

 Climate Requirements

Warm humid areas – can grow in most parts of the tropics and subtropics. Frost sensitive. Shallow root system makes them vulnerable to wind damage.

 Culture

Mulch well around the base and feed every few months.  Maintain water through dry periods. Prune for convenience.

 Harvesting

Harvest throughout the year with peak times in October and April.  Pick fruit when dark green fades to yellow green.  Soften to ripe in 1- 3 days.

Three years. Generally grown from seed, but some varieties are available.
