Fabulous Working 9ct Gold Royal Navy HMS Hound Launch Presentation Watch (d.1942)

HMS Hound was a reciprocating engine powered Algerine class minesweeper built for the RN during WW2, launched in 29th July 1942.

She was predominantly used for the North Atlantic convoys including Operation FV, passage of convoys JW 55A and JW 55B to Northern Russia and RA 55A and RA 55B from Northern Russia and was marginally involved in the sinking of the German battleship Scharnhorst. (Part of Force 1 & 2). After a long career she was finally scrapped in 1962

This side winding Swiss jewelled watch was gifted to the person who launched the ship with her initials engraved to the back of the watch “A. de G.M”.

The bar is also engraved with HMS Hound & launch date, marked for 9ct gold with the back of the watch also stamped with 9ct 375, along with a serial No & AIIM. It measures 6cm long with the bar & clasp 3.5cm wide, the very clean Swiss mechanism runs smoothly, keeps good time and is extremely clean.

It comes in its original display box by Davidson, Henderson & Sorley Jewellers of Buchanan St, Glasgow.

Overall this one off timepiece is in great used condition with the odd minor imperfection and works exceptionally well!

Local delivery, U.K & International shipping available with collections welcome too.
