Used 1957- 1997
During mobilization and war, dog tags should seem to every soldier of the Soviet Army.

The M1957 dog tag has not officially been withdrawn from the supply of professional and reserve officers to this day. During the war in Afghanistan in the years 1979-1989, soldiers of the conscript service as well as professional non-commissioned officers and warrant officers were not equipped with dog tags. Only career officers and reserve officers had chips.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union state, the Soviet Army ceases to exist, more and more local conflicts in the former Soviet republics bring more and more unrecognizable deaths. Public opinion in the federal states is different than in the USSR, people are less and less afraid and press the authorities so that their children, husbands, relatives do not have to end up in "refrigerators" in Rostov n/Don as nameless bodies.

After the conflict in Tajikistan, and mainly after January 1995 in Grozny, the Army of the Russian Federation begins to issue officer pattern tokens also to privates, non-commissioned officers and ensigns.
