Bachmann A1 4-6-2 Steam Loco Renamed ‘Sir Walter Scott’ C&G Model Railways 001

Very nice and unusual Bachmann Branchline model of class A1 4-6-2 steam locomotive No. 60143 ‘Sir Walter Scott’ in British Railways lined Brunswick green livery with late crest.

Almost certainly a conversion of the 32-550 60163 ‘Tornado’ 15th anniversary model - probably carried out before Bachmann issued their own twin pack set featuring this loco.

My working assumption is that this was produced by C&G Model Railways, formerly of Darlington but no longer in operation. This example has an etched plate stating issue number 001, though I do not know how many examples were converted and issued.

Has clearly been well looked after and sparingly used - couplings, brake rods and other items of detailing kit are still in bags within the box, and usual Bachmann paperwork still present.
