- Guardian Service cookware is made of heavy-duty hammered aluminum and is distinctive because of its domed lid. The innovative design made it possible to prepare food quickly using very little water. Pieces made before 1940 had heavy aluminum lids, but due to rationing during World War II, the metal tops were replaced with ones made of glass.
- Guardian cookware was introduced during the 1930s by the Century Metalcraft Co. of Los Angeles and sold by salesmen who went door-to-door or sold at house parties, where guests often bought just one or two pieces due to its relative expense.
