Here is a wonderful companion pair of sculptured wall art.

I had done research on these a while back and I believe these sculptures are of:  (1)   Two Guns White Calf, a Blackfoot Council Man and (2)  Blackfoot Woman Morning Star

I purchased these many years ago from an antique dealer with the tag of “Blake” Native American Chalkware Purchased 1975”

About the artist:  George Blake was born in 1944 on the Hoopa Indian Reservation in the Hoopa Valley of Humboldt County in northern California. He is of Hupa-Yurok descent, like many members of the small Indian tribes that inhabited this region of California before European contact.

He is a Hupa-Yurok Native American Craftsman, 1991 NEA National Heritage Fellow - Hoopa, CA

Blake received an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters, to be conferred by the California State University and Humboldt State University.

Blake was nominated for his role in the resurgence of Native California traditional cultural life since the 1970s.

His work has been exhibited widely nationally and internationally and is in the collections of major institutions, like the Phoebe A. Hearst Museum at UC Berkeley. 

In 1991, Blake was awarded the National Heritage Fellowship, the highest national honor given to a traditional artist. The National Endowment of the Arts website quotes Blake describing his work as a way to connect with his elders and the traditional arts.
