In 1918 the German Army came up with a new tactic to try and have a break though in the Western Front. The concept of Stormtroopers was improved and reinforced. These Stormtroopers were all highly motivated, young, unmarried, in top physical condition, aggressive, and willing to make decisions without command authority. They were trained in mobility and adaptation.

The stormtroopers were trained to attack the enemy trenches and to keep moving, not to hold. It would be the job of other infantrymen to hold taken ground.

This Stormtrooper is wearing the German Army Tunic. This tunic has internal hooks instead of buttons. The trousers are made with more narrow legs and are heavily patches on the knees with leather. He wears puttees and ankle boots. He helmet is the M1918 Stahlhelm.

He comes equipped with a gas mask, gas mask canister, two grenade bags, German Army brown belt , M1887 Breadbag, and M1907 Canteen. His tent half shelter is wrapped around his mess kit and can be easily removed if fighting required it. He also has a long handled "Pioneer Spade".

He is armed with the M1918 Bergmann Submachine Gun. It has a 32 round 'Snail Drum" magazine that was adapted from a similar magazine used for the Luger Pistol. It fired the same 9mm bullets that the Luger used. This is considered the first practical submachine gun.

He has two stick grenades with hooks for his belt and two stick grenades in his grenade bags.
