MT. VERNON DOUBLE SUCCESS TO THE RAILROAD GV-5 HISTORICAL FLASK OPEN PONTIL.

GV-5 chart reference is from American Bottles & Flasks by McKearin. This flask exhibits nearly a pure amber with very little if any olive coloration, almost a tobacco amber. This great historical flask attributed to the Mt. Vernon Glassworks and also Saratoga glassworks of NY circa. 1830’s is in excellent untouched original condition. This example is slightly overblown in the shoulders as is somewhat common for this mold. This is not necessarily bad, but it does cause a somewhat weakened impression in the shoulder area. The Success and Railroad wording as well as the horse and cart are clearly visible and quite strong. The mouth opening is also slightly oversized. There are a few very large completely enclosed bubbles in the glass that also add to the character of the flask. There is a very small 1/8” open bubble near a side rib noted for complete accuracy. This is a pristine flask that has its original luster and sheen with little to zero high point wear typically seen. It is a pint sized flask. Flask shipped securely insured Priority.
