I have refurbished the unit. I do this for a living, I've repaired these things hundreds and hundreds of times. If you're into this stuff there's a good chance you've seen one of my videos about four track repair etc on youtube because I've made about 250 videos on the subject which have had about half a million views and counting - https://www.youtube.com/@Tetrakan - so buy in the confidence that if something goes wrong you are already in contact with someone who knows how to fix these things and carries spare parts.

WORK DONE TO SERVICE THE UNIT

All mechanical and electrical parts have been deep cleaned and lubricated. Any niggling electrical issues have been solved through partial replacement of the electrolytic capacitors, etc . Fresh rubber parts have been installed. The unit has been calibrated so that playback levels closely match tracking levels, the tape speed is correct, erase function works well, etc.

HOW LONG SHOULD THE UNIT WORK FOR BEFORE NEEDING SERVICING?

It is my job as the seller to set realistic expectations of how long it will remain in excellent health;-

The fact is that some of the parts inside this unit - especially electrolytic capacitors and rubber parts - fail with age…think of this like the brake discs, clutch, tires and oil filter in a car, things wear out over time, that's just life unfortunately.

Having said that,  I do hope my due diligence will mean the buyer will enjoy years of trouble-free enjoyment -  5 years seems likely, even  10 years seems possible. If however the unit required significant servicing within 2 years of sale, I am willing to offer this - free after sales support, and very cheap labour. If the item develops an issue outside the return window, if the buyer will cover postage to and from my location I will carry out the work for £15 per hour - check around, that is very cheap. I hope this assurance  gives you some confidence to buy from me.

Will be well packaged and appropriately insured, I use special delivery where possible.
