Collates [xxiii], 410, [8]p. Title grubby with some wear and marginal paper loss. Prelims a bit grubby or toned else the bulk of the text is in solid enough condition with occasional marks, minor toning.

Not a copy for the purist book collector but a perfectly acceptable working copy of the text.

 
The author outlines a moderate vindication for the Church of England priesthood. Sections on avoiding the perils of Popery, Presbyterianism and Islam (or the Mohometan impostures as he calls them).

The book opens with the sentiment ‘’An infidel in the church, may very aptly be compared to a monkey in a glass-shop’’.


 
Bound in full contemporary calf. Rubbed with some wear.

Joints cracked but boards attached reasonably firmly.
