PM if you want more documentation. English Boots, made by Peal and Co, purchased by eventual Colonel Edgar W Taulbee of the US Cavalry and 1924 Paris Olympics US Equestrian Team. He was a rider in reserve and his own horse ended up being used in the races. These boots were purchased in London, possibly as a souvenir of this trip, possibly to wear in the event itself. Boots themselves have some condition issues, including an obvious repair on the ankle. I had the leather straps of the spurs replaced with exact replicas of the originals, which I will also ship (they were broken.
SOME FACTS about Colonel Edgar W Taulbee-
- His father was a politician shot on the steps of the US capital and is now part of many DC ghost tours.-
- He was a West Point graduate-
- He specialized in trick jumps-
- He was an Instructor at the US Cavalry School in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas-
- He was a major point man for the US effort to participate in the 1924 Olympics, participating himself in the Individual and Team Eventing categories. The US scored Bronze that year in Individual Eventing-
- He was one of the last members of the US Cavalry, serving until it's eventual dissolution during WWII.
I have added images of some of the documentation about Taulbee's life and participation in the Olympics.
