This is a 1963 Penny Brite doll, approximately 8" tall, vinyl with bending limbs, short rooted light brown hair, dimples, side-glancing painted eyes and painted-on lashes. Doll head can tilt up, down and side to side and is jointed at shoulders and hips. Included is its original red and white pleated dress with short sleeves and two blue floral appliqué on skirt. The dress snaps up the back. It is also wearing vintage cotton-gauze white lace-trimmed underwear, unclear if they’re original. No shoes.

Doll is marked on the back of its head: Deluxe Reading Corp. 1963. On doll’s mid-back, it reads Deluxe Reading Corp. Elizabeth NJ Pat Pending.

Condition: Very good pre-owned vintage condition, face paint is very good, no rubs, doll hair is full, no missing plugs, and in its virtually undisturbed original style but the back of hair has mild creases from storage. Overall, doll is just a bit dingy from storage and age, no holes, puncture marks, rips, stains nor foul odors. One leg arcs inward very slightly, a common trait in this vintage doll. Apparel is clean and pressed, all three snaps fasteners are present and securely stitched. The colors are bright but the white collar has a bit of color bleeding from unknown source in a faint blue.
