“The black-and-white image is about light: the energy by which a photographic image is produced. Light awakens us to the beauty of objects and the moods of landscapes. In my photographs, I seek to capture the light and the quiet beauty, mystery, and spirit of the places I visit; to convey and share with others my impressions and visions; and to help viewers discover the often-overlooked beauty and significance of place. I seek not to imitate what I see but to play with it, to create my own unique version. As a unique creative medium and expressive art form, photography is a shared process of discovery: for the photographer, in terms of what a photograph is capable of yielding in expressive possibilities; for the viewer, in terms of enhanced creativity in interpretation.”
