On offer is a lovely vintage Goebel figurine that stands about 7½" (19cm) tall. On the back of the base is the impressed name "DAKON" who was the designer/sculptor. It depicts a boy playing a whistle or flute. I'm not a collector of this type of item and so my knowledge is limited to what I can find on the internet. I have tried to research this figurine but not had a lot of success. From what I've read it was not a mass produced item - it may have just been a prototype by the artist that was never put into production - thus making it quite a rare find. Please take a good look at the pictures as they form a large part of the item description.

This unique little figurine depicts what looks like a young boy skipping along whilst playing his flute / pipe. He has been hand painted and the cute face is full of expression. He has bright blue eyes, blush cheeks and little tufts of golden brown hair escaping from beneath his green hat. He is dressed in light brown trousers and red jacket with a white shirt underneath. All the colours are really crisp with only the most minute signs of wear from handling.

On the base of the figurine it is stamped with "by W. Goebel Western Germany" in black print, and it has the blue Goebel "Bee in V" mark (that I think is known as TMK3). The base is impressed "© 1957" and "Da1".

There are no chips, cracks or repairs to the item. It is a little dusty from storage and there are one or two tiny surface marks from display. None of this really detracts but is best mentioned to avoid any disappointment.

Despite the minor cosmetic faults this is a beautiful figurine that displays well. It will make a delightful addition to any collection.
