Amazing Early 19thC American Naval Gun Powder Horn “E Pluribus Unum”

A powder horn is a container for gunpowder, and was generally created from cow, ox, or buffalo horn and used to prime muzzle loading guns & cannons. This particular one is in great used condition and has the American Bald Eagle & Motto engraved to one side and a 3 masted Frigate or ship of the line flying the American Flag circa 1795, to the other.

It has a plethora of other decorative features around the surface of the cow horn with a crude brass plug to one end and an iron pierced cap to the other with a ring for a lanyard.

It dates from around the turn of the 18-19th century and would be an amazing addition to any powder horn collection.
