This scarce 1870s “Argentos" wood hinged embossed green and gold leather bound book style 50 cigar box , measuring 8 1/4” x 5 1/2” x 2 1/8”,is in very good condition. There is some age related abrasion on a few parts of the exterior There is s nearly complete 1875 tax stamp. The interior is lined with the original silver paper. The hinge and latch are in excellent working order. A small piece of leather has come unglued on the interior hinge but remains. The interior label has some minor age related paper discoloration.  The cigars were manufactured by the Benjamin Lichtenstein Brothers & Company,  New York, NY in Factory 50, 3rd District, NY.  This very attractive “book” style cigar box has a white interior label with the company’s trademark image of an eagle with outspread wings.  This very oldc igar box rarely comes up for sale, especially in this condition.
