New Queens by Durgin Sterling Silver Butter Spreader Large Flat Handle 5 1/2"

Provenance: Mary Ann Allen (1829 – 1888) was my great, great grandmother who married Ellis Clark, II in 1851. My sister has 2 oil portraits of our great, great grandparents as well as a history of their lives. Mary Ann Allen Clark died in 1888 leaving her estate and jewelry to their only daughter, Gertrude Vaughn Clark (GVC), my great grandmother; who was only 19 at the time of her parents’ death. Gertrude Vaughn Clark (1869 – 1922) married Marmaduke Dudley Smith, and they had 2 girls, Margaret Vaughn Smith, my grandmother and Gertrude Dudley Smith. Margaret Vaughn Smith (1903 – 1988) married Dr. Francis Wells Davison, my grandfather and they had 2 children; Joan Dudley Davison and Richard Alvin Davison (1932 –1974), my father. My aunt, Dr. Joan Dudley Davison died young (age 31) as did my father, Dr. Richard Alvin Davison (age 42). I was 12 when my father died, Margaret Vaughn Smith Davison, my grandmother, made sure to pass on the family heirlooms and family history to each of her 4 granddaughters of which I am one.

I hope this provides enough history for this piece.
