Wonderful early 20th century sideboard by the legendary English furniture makers, Waring & Gillows. Exceptional, oversized solid mahogany piece with figured mahogany veneers. Beautifully carved top edge, door panel surrounds and feet show the masterful work this company was renowned for. The center has a wide, curved projection. There are four drawers across the top - each is made of mahogany and are dovetailed on all four sides. Solid brass hardware. There are four doors below these, and all have a raised, carved frame around a stunning patterned flame mahogany veneered panel. The two center doors are curved and open to reveal open storage, with a single adjustable shelf. The left side door also has open storage with an adjustable shelf as well. The right door has three drawers, all lined with felt - originally used for silver and flatware. All four door lock, and are in working order. The piece comes with a key. The drawers behind the right-hand door have a lock as well, but we do not have a key. The feet are heavily carved and sit on beautifully realized hairy paw feet.

In exceptionally nice condition - The top has been professionally refinished and has a satin level varnish. The color and finish on the piece is consistent on all sides - no fading or wear. Overall, near mint to mint. The two center doors do not have their brass escutcheons. Otherwise, an incredibly well-cared for piece. No smoking, no pet estate.

There is a label on the backside, indicating this piece was purchased through the company's Paris location. This showroom was opened in 1906, and based on our research, was not open past the early 1930s. An elegant pair of small early twentieth-century satinwood cabinets with the label matching this piece's has been recorded, but very few other pieces have come to market.

Dimensions: 101” wide, 39.5” tall and the area from the floor to the underside is 11.5”. The curved center section is 49” wide. The piece is 30” deep at the center and 24” deep at either side.
