BEN HARPER: Burn To Shine (EXTREMELY RARE FACTORY SEALED FROM BEFORE THE WEEK OF RELEASE IN 1999 1ST PRESSING JAPANESE IMPORT ADVANCE MEDIA PROMOTIONAL CD +2 JAPAN ONLY BONUS TRACKS VJCP-68163) LONG OUT OF PRINT

Features a 16 page lyric booklet and a foldout sheet of notes/lyrics in Japanese. Back cover has a numbered promo sticker and the centre  ring of the CD should have something like sample not for sale in English or Japanese stamped around the edge.

AllMusic Review:

Burn to Shine presents proof positive that you can always distill the essence of rock & roll down to a solitary man alone with his guitar and conscience.

It sounds inventive yet firmly rooted in the blues-rock singer/songwriter/guitarist tradition of Taj Mahal and of Neil Young and Cat Stevens at their most confessional. Harper's guitar with falsetto vocal in "The Woman in You" even suggests a Curtis Mayfield tune in the hands of Prince. "Steal My Kisses" is one of those uncluttered, radio-friendly rock shuffles that simply makes you bob your head and feel better.

Even Harper's detours, like the wobbling New Orleans shuffle with the Real Time Jazz Band, "Suzie Blue," and charred Black Sabbath metal in "Less" -prove worth exploring. Other cameos include guitarists David Lindley and former Bob Marley sideman Tyrone Downey. Burn to Shine is a minor masterpiece that may prove to be not so minor.

THIS IS AN EXTREMELY RARE STILL FACTORY SEALED JAPANESE PROMO FIRST PRESSING FROM 1999. I CANNOT FIND ANOTHER ONE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD AT THE TIME OF MAKING THIS AD.

ONE OF THE JEWELS OF MY COLLECTION. I personally love all the Japanese issues above the rest of the world, not only sonically but for the fantastic packaging. I have another non promo copy of this CD and it sounds awesome. As a collector the most important thing is rarity. There aren't many of these around, and I can't find another PROMO COPY of this anywhere else in the world that is mint, brand new like mine.

Personally, I love collecting Japanese CD's, they are generally superior quality to the rest of the world on every level in my opinion. All the JAPANESE CD's I own are nearly always the best sounding pressings in the world with very few exceptions!!

OUT OF PRINT JAPANESE PROMO PRESSING. Toshiba Japanese promo CD's are the most sought after by collectors like me because the stamping and numbering on the inner ring of the CD means they make a separate glass master just for promo samples. This means only one metal master stamper is produced instead of the father-mother-stamper method for regular CD's. This means SUPREME QUALITY, or the best it possibly can be as an exact copy of the original master without any data loss in production.

As the years go by, these albums are going to get harder and harder to find as CD production is falling every year. It won't be long before rare CD's are selling for more than vinyl. CD's don't wear out, vinyl records do. I grew up with vinyl but the only thing I miss are the covers.

IT IS BRAND NEW STILL FACTORY SEALED. Has been packed away in storage for over 23 years!

Duty & Tax

Most countries around the world are now charging VAT Tax on almost everything, so delivery times have slowed a little due to customs clearances, please check customs rules for your country, you might have to pay a bit extra. For example: The USA charges NOTHING UP TO $800USD so you will get your order quickly, UK charges 20% VAT on anything over 19GBP so it could take an extra week to get through customs at Langley. The EU countries, France, Italy, Spain etc charge VAT over 22 Euros. China is free up to $300USD.
