VTG FISHING/SPORTS SHOTS: Lot of 24 Antique OOAK B&W Snapshot Photos ~ LOOK!

ESTATE FIND! From the estate of an antique collector who accumulated over 100,000 photos from other estates. Photos mainly date from the 1940s era. All are black & white or sepia toned.

This lot has a consistent theme: Sports, including shooting and fishing.

Most of these were probably taken in Kansas (one boy holding fish is wearing a Hutchinson Elks shirt). Although at least one shows a couple of salty fishermen with a bunch of large fish, possibly grouper, taken at Wright’s bait & tackle shop that advertises fresh mullet (so likely ocean fishermen).

Sports include basketball, football, tennis, archery and golf. Several neat fishing photos!

Two shots were taken by a famous Wichita photographer who also produced postcards (stamped on back). They feature some of the 1950s Wichita Vickers Oilers basketball team, who were national champs in the National Industrial Basketball League in the late 1950s. Some rare photos for the hard-core Vickers fan or gas and oil collector!

I also included one of two women goofing around with a gun - one holding a rifle to another as if there was a stick-up going on. After I photographed, I realized the back was dated June 3, 1917, and noted to be two days after a tornado had hit (so taken in Kansas, Oklahoma, Illinois or Kentucky at the end of a famous 8-day twister outbreak). And then I realized the roof was missing on the house they are standing in front of! See photos. Some neat stuff!!

Excellent stuff for a historian, sports lover or photography student.

Selling as-is with no returns, so kindly ask before bidding if you have any questions.
