Established in 1948, Motion Picture Enterprises, Inc. is New York’s largest supplier of post production rental equipment and film supplies.
16mm, 800 FT metal reels were usually used for business or commercial films because of their capacity.
The Bureau of Aeronautics (BuAer) was the U.S. Navy's material-support organization for naval aviation from 1921 to 1959. The bureau had "cognizance" (i.e., responsibility) for the design, procurement, and support of Naval aircraft and related systems. Aerial weapons, however, were under the cognizance of the Navy's Bureau of Ordnance (BuOrd).
The Naval Aviation Photographic Unit was a group of military photographers in the United States Navy during the Second World War. The Navy had established this special group in early 1942, shortly after the US entry into the war, to document and publicize its aviation activities. It was decided the unit would operate out of the Bureau of Aeronautics' Training Literature Division. At one time this reel / can set contained the US Navy Film "A SALUTE TO ARLEIGH BURKE". All that's left now are the original reel and can with the label.
Arleigh Albert Burke (October 19, 1901 – January 1, 1996) was an admiral of the United States Navy who distinguished himself during World War II and the Korean War, and who served as Chief of Naval Operations during the Eisenhower and Kennedy administrations.
USS Arleigh Burke (DDG-51), the lead ship of its class of Aegis-equipped guided missile destroyers, was commissioned in Burke's honor in 1991. The honor of naming a US naval vessel after a living figure was only the fourth time it had been bestowed since 1861.
This auction is for a vintage 16mm movie film metal reel with its storage can. It measures 10.5 inches in diameter and has a capacity of 800 feet of film. (See Pics)
It was part of an inventory removed from a home of a CAMERA COLLECTOR after he died and the owners sold the home.
These reels were among a number of CAMERAS AND PHOTOGRAPHIC SUPPLIES. They all looked like in decent shape. So, I am selling it "AS IS" NO RETURNS NO REFUNDS, and pricing it accordingly.
This reel appears to be in excellent condition. It is about 75 years old, there may be some surface rust or markings. Some reels may have a small 16mm film sample as requested. It's only a couple feet. Toss the sample if you don't want it. see pics.
So far, I have sold quite a bit of items from that lot and have had no complaints yet!!

RETURNS / REFUND POLICY

Item must be returned in original condition (within 7 days of receipt), un-damaged. Buyer to pay return postage. (Recorded Advisable) Refund will not include postage paid to deliver the item.
