A very fine antique 4/4 violin, labeled David Tecchler liutaro fecit
Romae anno 1720. The instrument is in ready to play condition with
tears, wears, small old repaired crack to right f-hole, small repair to
peg-box, good ebony and rosewood set up, master made bridge and new
strings. The violin has an excellent medium grained spruce of the top
and one piece back of softly flamed maple with matched sides, neck and
scroll. Rich golden amber varnish shows an amazing wooden choice. The
whole length of the violin is 592 mm and the back 361 mm. The width of
the upper bouts: 169 mm; middle bouts: 115 mm; lower bouts: 204 mm. The
sound is very good, powerful, deep and rich, suitable for soloist.
