Florence Ward created her porcelain business in the 1940's after the loss of her young son.  Her business flourished.  While Florence created each Florence Ceramics piece, she provided her staff creativity in embellishing them.  With a commitment towards excellence, she examined each finished piece before including them in her inventory.  Her pieces became quite popular so much so that other porcelain producers started copying her designs.  When Mrs. Ward dissolved her business in the 1960's, she insisted that all of her molds be destroyed; ending the possibility of her figurines ever being produced again.
