This delightful vintage Wooden Carved Figural Box Auction

is for one that measures

5" x  3.5"  x  1.75"

There seems to be a theme of 10 men in robes on the top

some are doing jobs, perhaps, or maybe

even praying.

Some are alone, some are in pairs. The fine detail allows for

expression on the faces and the fine

detail shows the stonework in the dwellings and

even leaves on the trees.

The more I look, the more I see!

Some of the phots appear washed out, but the little box is

fully  and consistently brown on all surfaces.

It has probably never been oiled or waxed...or even washed out for that case!

The inside is partly lined with red rice paper or silk

and has a signature on a place in the lid.

The 4 sides are also filled with designs

and it is a marvel to me.

There are a few tiny fleabites

and a stress fracture place on the backside of the lid, so

study the photos. If what you see is pleasing that is good, and if

the imperfections bother you then I am

sure if you keep looking you will one day find the

carved box of your dreams!
