THE ROLLING STONES: Flashpoint (EXTREMELY RARE 1999 JAPAN ADVANCE MEDIA PROMOTIONAL CD TOCP-53025) LONG OUT OF PRINT

COLLECTORS HOLY GRAIL EXTREMELY RARE. I have never seen another promo copy of this for sale on the internet!

Flashpoint is a live album by British rock band The Rolling Stones. It was released in 1991, having been recorded throughout 1989 and 1990 on the mammoth Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle Tour. It was the first live album by the group since 1982's Still Life. It was recorded using binaural recording. This gives the effect that the concert audience is behind the home listener.

Recorded across North America, Europe and Japan, Flashpoint is also the first Rolling Stones release of the 1990s and, unlike previous live sets, includes two new studio tracks: "Highwire" and "Sex Drive"; the former was released as a single earlier in 1991 and was a comment on the Gulf War. Although the live selections are mostly familiar hits mixed in with new tracks from Steel Wheels, Flashpoint also includes lesser-known songs like "Factory Girl" from 1968's Beggars Banquet and "Little Red Rooster", originally a No. 1 UK hit single in 1964, featured here with special guest Eric Clapton on guitar.

As Flashpoint was The Rolling Stones' final release under their contract with Sony Music, the band signed a new lucrative long-term worldwide deal with Virgin Records in 1991. The deal made it possible that Ronnie Wood was finally taken off salary and made a full member of the Rolling Stones partnership, eighteen years after he joined the band.

Flashpoint was released in April 1991 and was generally well-received, with "Highwire" becoming a rock radio hit, and managed to reach No. 6 in the UK and No. 16 in the US, where it went gold.

This CD re-issue was 24bit Digitally Remastered by Bob Ludwig for Virgin as part of the new world wide deal and sounds amazing. All of the 1998 Ludwig remasters are THE HOLY GRAIL SONICALLY.

Japanese advanced promo samples are the most sought after collectables because the Japanese give their CD's a new catalogue number with every release, this means a new glass master has to be made and that the limited run of promotional CD's made are of the highest audio quality, usually pressed directly from only one metal master.

Can't tell you what's inside and could only find a couple of bad pictures on the internet, that's how ULTRA RARE this CD is, but usually there is a Japanese lift-out with translated lyrics and liner notes.

In 1999 Toshiba-EMI released a limited run of some classic back catalogue to celebrate the greatest 100 EMI/Virgin albums of all time, hence the "ROCK THE 100" Logo.

It is BRAND NEW, STILL FACTORY SEALED. Packed away in storage for over 20 years. The back of the CD case is cracked but I can't replace the case without opening it.
