This new generation of guitars, the S series, R series, and RG series, debuted, and the RG and S series are still popular as Ibanez's main models without changing their basic shape.
Among them, the RG series is a particularly popular series and has many variations.
Furthermore, the popular model RG550 has the same body shape as Steve Vai's JEM series, which had an endorsement contract with Ibanez at the time, and has been used by many professional guitarists due to its reasonable price and good sound, and has received great support to this day. .
Although it has been reprinted several times, this is the original model, especially this color DY, which is the only color that is the same as JEM and is overwhelmingly more popular than other colors!!
The unobtrusive basswood body also makes it easy to shape the sound with an amplifier or effector.
The neck uses an ultra-thin type Wizardshape, and is the initial specification of Maple 1pc. Scarf joint head.
The pickup has an HSH arrangement with a V1 center on the front and DiMarzio LiquiFire on the rear, and a powerful humbucker sound, and an automatic duo system where the humbucker side has a single coil tap in the halftone position (commonly known as Vai wiring), clean. This sound is effective for tonal cutting and arpeggios.
The bridge uses FRT type EDGE, and its smooth movement and tuning stability are still used in models by Steve Vai and Joe Satriani, and it has received tremendous trust.
There is no problem with the condition of the neck. There is a slight dent in the frets, but there is plenty left.
This has dents on the top and sides of the body, cracks in the paint on the neck joint, shallow dents on the neck and grip, and other cracks, scratch marks, dents, dullness of metal parts, and rust due to aging.
The back panel is missing. The truss rod cover has been replaced with the current RG one.
The playability is good and it can still be used in active use!!
This is the perfect model for technical metal from the 80s to 90s!!
It is no longer in production, difficult to obtain, and prices continue to soar on the used market!
