This Ocean City Olympic model was first offered in the 1938 catalog. Ocean City only made this reel for 3 years and then removed it from their line up. The price when introduced in 1938 was $2.65 (approximately $58 in 2024 dollars) The reel is in very nice shape. Because this reel was used for fishing it shows the usual nickle plate wear found in many Ocean City reels. The side plates are in excellent condition. The reel is mechanically in excellent condition. All features, free spool and click work as designed. There is a very slight wobble in the spool but it does not affect the reel when the spool is engaged nor when the spool is in free spool. There is no "singing" in the reel when spinning.

This is the description from the 1938 catalog:

"This is a new member of the Ocean City family of fine fishing reels, brought out this season to make it possible for those who want a lower-priced reel than what we have been able to offer in the past, and still obtain Ocean City quality. It has genuine bakelite side plates, automatic free spool lever and patented Syn-chro Mesh, the open top, double side bars, the sturdy Ocean City reel seat. The metal parts are heavily nickel plated and it is assembled of related parts under the very strict inspection and supervision that is used in the manufacture of all Ocean City reels."
