Doxa SUB 300 50th Anniversary Sea Rambler

An absolute icon of the dive-watch world, the SUB 300 was made famous by Jacques Cousteau, who was famously so impressed by the watches that he became a distributor for them in the US. Endorsements don’t come much higher than that in the dive-watch world.

The Sub 300 harks back to a time when watches were used as proper tools. With an unmistakeable aesthetic, this could only be a Doxa. This particular version is the modern reference to have, as it was the first 300 reintroduced in the modern era and was released to celebrate 50 years of the 300. Produced in a limited run of 300 pieces for the Sea Rambler and Shark hunter, it's believed the entire run did not sell out and there are closer to 150-200 pieces of each dial colour out there.

Constructed from 316L stainless steel, the SUB 300 has a diameter of 42.5mm, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, 300 metres of water resistance, anti-reflective coating and is powered by an ultra reliable ETA movement adjusted to COSC standards. The SUB 300 COSC is also thinner than the Sub 300T, adding to its comfort and wearability.

This particular piece would date to 2016 and presents in TZ Good condition. The case shows some scratching and light scuffs, though the brushed sections are in excellent condition overall. Bezel shows scratching, and there's some very minor dings/nicks along the bevel lines and sides of the case which is the reason for the "Good' rather than 'Excellent' grading on the TZ scale. See images for full condition details.

The buckle and bracelet show desk diving marks, but nothing too bad.

Service history unknown. Running at around -10 secs a day at time of writing, at high 200's amplitude. Amplitude is very strong, so would suggest a regulation to get it back to COSC standards.

Includes DOXA tube, COSC certificate, Doxa SUB 300 Book and Doxa DVD.

A lovely example of a collectible modern 300.
