A lovely Edward VIII/ George VI silver gilt anointing spoon, a replica of the one used to anoint the monarch during the Coronation ceremonymade by the well known silversmiths Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co. It is English sterling silver hallmarked for London 1936, and would have been made to commemorate either the Coronation of King George VI in 1937 or the coronation of King Edward VIII (which did not take place). The spoon is 10cm long and weighs circa 8g.
