Hegel H360 is a giant among integrated amplifiers.
With 250 watts per channel into 8 ohms and a damping factor of more than 4000, it will control virtually any loudspeaker on the market. Thanks to the patented SoundEngine2 technology, this beast of an amplifier combines power, dynamics, finesse and musicality like no other integrated amp on the market. The connectivity is more of a bonus. There are balanced and unbalanced analog inputs. There is a Home Theatre bypass. There are optical and coaxial digital inputs, as well as a USB input for any signal up to DSD128... And, yes - it is also a streamer. Need we say more?
The analog section is almost identical to the newer H390 (RRP £5250).
The DAC inside the H360 can be bypassed using Hegel’s DAC-loop functionality. This function makes it possible to upgrade the digital inputs of the H360 with an external high-end DAC. This is done by connecting the re-clocked coaxial digital output of the H360 to the external DAC. The output of the external DAC will need to be connected to the balanced input of the H360. With the DAC-Loop activated and a digital source input selected, the H360 will enable the selected digital source input while selecting the balanced source input as the active input. This makes the external DAC able to receive the re-clocked digital signal, convert it and send it back to the H360 through its balanced input.
