Bachmann 31-852 Gresley J39 64960 in BR black with a late crest. This model was introduced by Bachmann in 1994.

The 'bodywork' of the loco and tender are complete and free from damage or meaningful handling marks. The undersides are clean and the wheels show signs of modest use only. The detailing and decals are sharp and I'd say that overall she is in excellent condition.

The box is in solid order but with some wear mainly in the flap areas.  Unfortunately the usual Bachmann paperwork is missing so I have downloaded a copy of the model parts sheet and popped it in the box.

The poly tray is in good order and the bays contain what I assume to be the original tissue paper. A vacuum pipe for the locomotive was loose in the box and I've popped this in the tray slot in a twist if tissue

This loco was a Vectis buy and was described by the auctioneer as "Excellent to Near Mint".

She has not been run in the ten plus years that I've owned her and I have just tried a test on my rolling road. Given that she's in such good condition overall I was surprised to find that she was a reluctant participant and there was minimal wheel rotation backwards and forwards. The motor was obviously trying to run so I very much suspect that this is a service/lubrication issue which is hardly surprising after such a long layup - I didn't want to push it so, as things stand, she's currently a non runner..

I want everyone to buy with confidence so I always do my best to describe the locomotive openly and fairly but please look carefully at the photos which form part of the description. If you have any queries just drop me a line.

I've built up an extensive collection of mainly steam locos over the years having been fortunate enough to catch their final years. Most of my locos have come from various auctions but sadly I've just run out of space so time for some serious thinning out. The last thing I want to do is disappoint anyone so it's important to be clear that I'm more of a 'display collector' than a 'runner' and it follows that my knowledge generally on the technical side is fairly basic. I've invested in a rolling road to at least check that the motor runs but beyond that I'm not qualified to make further comment I'm afraid.

I will dispatch to many locations outside the UK but only those listed through eBay's Global Shipping Program.

On postage, I’m sorry that this is so high. Sadly for everyone delivery costs have shot up recently across the board. I send out everything valued at over £25 signed for and fully covered compensation wise and whilst sometimes I have to make a little bit of an estimate I only ever seek to recover the direct cost to me.

I've put some thin foam across the top of the tray to prevent 'rub' in transit
